Diagrama Foundation has teamed up with support group New Family Social to offer dedicated services for prospective parents, foster carers and adopters from the LGBT community.People interested in adoption and fostering through Diagrama are now able to access New Family Social’s membership services for free – this entitles them to benefit from additional support, a dedicated helpline, networking events throughout the year and access to online forums. Members of the Standing Committee for Youth Justice have been learning how Diagrama’s youth custodial care model could transform the face of the juvenile justice system in the UK.Dr Di Hart was reporting back to the committee on the preliminary findings of her recent study into custodial care in Finland, Spain and the US – which included spending time experiencing Diagrama’s ground-breaking ‘re-education’ approach to rehabilitation of young offenders. It being the Christmas holidays, the youths of one of the Diagrama Foundation homes, together with their teachers, held a themed night focused on China. The night formed part of an annual programme run by Diagrama employees to bring together the diverse world cultures of the looked after children. Through this, equal rights and cultural diversity are promoted, and the opportunity to share knowledge and curiosities about life in other countries is given. Read more...

The Chairman of Diagrama Foundation (UK) and Fundación Diagrama (Spain), Francisco Legaz, received this honour on its behalf from the Minister Jorge Fernández Díaz as an acknowledgement of the “important servicies” provided by the Foundation in the penitentiary field for over 23 years.Diagrama was acknowledge with the Silver Medal for its 23 years of work in this field, assisting convicts and exconvicts on their social, educational, health and employment needs. Between the 6 and the 11 of July, two boys cared for at one of Diagrama’s homes travelled to Lloret de Mar (Spain), where they carried out several tourist and cultural activities, as well as leisure and sport ones. This trip allowed them to leave their routine and develop new social skills in a new environment.During those days, they visited the village, getting to know the most emblematic places and interacting with the neighbours, which favoured their cultural enrichment by learning the local history and being in contact with a different language.
