Diagrama Foundation: Edensor Care Centre staff take part in the sack race

Staff at Edensor have been put through their paces in a team-building sports day event – on the beach!

With 23 staff from Diagrama’s care centre for the elderly taking part in the fun day at Holland-on-Sea, the day provided an opportunity for the nurses, care staff and managers to have fun as a team and also raise some money for activities for residents.

Training manager Vikki Whale said: “The day was windy but dry - the sand was whipping up but there was a great atmosphere and all the staff came together to play a variety of games including sack races, sprint, egg and spoon and rounders. We finished off with a chilly swim in the sea and even raised £42 in the process.”

Four members of staff took part in each event with the winner from each race competing at the end for a winner’s medal, presented by residential manager Alison Brown.

Alison said: “We have a fantastic team at Edensor who work so hard to offer the best of care for our residents. It was great to give them the opportunity to let their hair down and bond with their colleagues outside of the care centre. We all had a lot of fun and really enjoyed it. There were a lot of aches and pains the next day though! It was a great way of boosting staff morale and many staff have suggested we come together more often.”

Edensor is a 50-bed residential care centre in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, which provides residential, nursing and dementia care for the elderly.
