Diagrama Foundation has a newly appointed Care Farm and Community Manager at Duckyls Farm. Keri Strugnell joined us at the beginning of January to lead the development and management of the facilities and relationships with the local community. The appointment of Keri is one of the changes implemented as part of Diagrama’s plan to develop Duckyls, including extending the facility from eight to ten bedrooms as well as using the open land and woodland more creatively. The people we support always need essential items to live fulfilling, happy lives. So this Christmas, we have worked with our residents and the people we support to create an Amazon Wish List for each service at Diagrama. They have chosen items carefully based on the things they love to do, whether it be arts and crafts, baking, gardening, or household items such as bedding, bath mats, and more! We also need larger items for our premises that are in great need of replacement. Read more...

This National Adoption Week, Diagrama Fostering and Adoption is asking people who would consider adopting siblings or long term fostering siblings to talk to us. Parenting and caring for siblings is incredibly rewarding. The social skills that children can learn by being brought up together in a nurturing environment is invaluable. There are vital skills and lessons children can learn when they remain together. Many children in the care system are denied this opportunity and the opportunity to grow up with someone who shares the same history and identity as them. Read more...

Voluntary adoption agencies across the UK have come together with a joint mission to stop brothers and sisters who are waiting in care from being separated when adopted. Almost half of children currently waiting in care* are part of a family group and voluntary adoption agencies. (VAAs) are looking for people who can offer them a permanent and loving home. Janice and Ronnie, who are supported at Bromley by Diagrama Foundation, were delighted to be invited to attend an event at Biggin Hill hosted by the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans this week. As they both have an interest in WW2, they were delighted when they received an invitation from the charity - who work with war veterans and the disabled by providing entertainment, outings and specialised equipment. This month, we have welcomed our new Head of Marketing Strategy, Tina Morris to Diagrama Foundation. Tina, whose experience includes marketing and communications projects for FTSE 100 companies, launching and rebranding the De La Warr Pavilion as an internationally significant art gallery and music venue, and working with the multi-million pound Canterbury Oast Trust to manage their Rare Breeds Centre, joined us on 7th August. Rodney Appleyard, Development Manager and Stephanie Grant, Administrator from grant making trust and charity Colchester Catalyst, visited Edensor this week to present a cheque for £15,000 to fund our ‘End of Life’ Project. The vital funding will allow Edensor to have a special sensory cabin built in the beautiful gardens of their care home to give residents and their families a private, quiet and calming area where they can spend precious time together in their final days. James and Simon are united not only by their friendship, and both being residents of Duckyls Farm, but also their diagnosis of Fragile X Syndrome in childhood. Whilst the genetic condition affects boys and girls, boys are often more severely affected. It can cause a range of issues with language, emotions, attention behaviour and social interaction. Common behavioural features of Fragile X include short attention span, distractibility, impulsiveness, restlessness, over activity and sensory problems. Read more...
