Diagrama Foundation Cabrini House Summer Fayre
Last week saw residents at Cabrini House, our home for adults with learning disabilities, organise their first ever Summer Fayre to raise money for new equipment at their home. Guests enjoying the summer picnic
This month saw 50 Diagrama adopters and children, and potential adopters join together for a fun filled afternoon. The weather was beautiful and everyone brought food to share for a picnic. The annual picnic in Purley, gives families the opportunity to spend time together, make new friends and keep in touch, offering helpful advice and encouragement to one another. Read more...

Diagrama Foundation hosts the Inside Out Exhibition launch
The artistic achievements of adults with learning disabilities, young people in conflict with the law, isolated elderly and women who have suffered domestic abuse have been celebrated at an art exhibition hosted by Diagrama Foundation during Learning Disability week. More than 50 artworks were on display at the INSIDE OUT exhibition, held at the Rochester Cathedral Crypt cafe and at The Halpern Conservancy Board Building, from June 13 to 20. Read more...

Rochester Cathedral
The Rt Revd James Langstaff, Bishop of Rochester, will host a celebration of fostering and adoption at Rochester Cathedral on 29 June, 11.00am. The special child-friendly service will celebrate the dedication and love shown by fostering and adoptive families and those considering it for the future and demonstrate to fostered and adopted children how welcome they are in our community. There will also be a special performance from Jack Holton, an experienced operatic singer. Read more...

Diagrama Foundation is staging an inclusive art exhibition displaying works by vulnerable artists at Rochester Cathedral next month, in partnership with organisations from across Europe. The exhibition, entitled Inside Out, marks the culmination of a two-year Erasmus+ funded multi-national project which aims to empower vulnerable people. Read more...

Residents at Cabrini House, Diagrama’s home for adults with learning disabilities in Orpington received some professional art classes recently when artist Maria Whatling joined us for several sessions - and the results were truly impressive. Maria is an art teacher at a Medway School and she spent her time at Cabrini House working with several groups of residents trying out a wide variety of simple but effective techniques to achieve different effects with paint, drawing and sculpture. She also provided some inspirational new ideas for our staff to try out in the future. Read more...

Four residents at Cabrini House, Diagrama’s home for adults with learning disabilities, have been learning how to respond in a medical emergency when they took part in Mini Medics training. The aim of the Mini Medics course is to help people understand the importance of staying calm in an emergency and helping those who are poorly or injured. Diagrama’s instructor Shane Newcombe spent the day at Cabrini House explaining some of the dangers to look out for and how to respond. Read more...

Staff at Diagrama's Cabrini House receive montessori certificates
Development and care staff, along with senior management at Cabrini House, have been successfully trained in the Diagrama-Montessori Principles and Practice of Person-Centred Enrichment Support. The training was delivered by Nati Beltran – a Montessori teacher who has been collaborating with Diagrama on a research project to introduce this approach to development for adults with learning disabilities. Cabrini residents in cooking workshop
Residents at Cabrini House, Diagrama’s home for adults with learning disabilities in Orpington, have been developing new skills, as part of daily living activities and they have been working on their cooking and food preparation skills in the cooking workshop. This workshop helps residents who choose to take part to develop their life skills and abilities and improve creativity and team working as they enjoy preparing food and learning new recipes. diagrama fostering training course managing complex behaviour
We recently completed running the first of two pilot courses in Advanced Foster Care - Managing Complex Behaviour, which has been funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. The course took place over 6 weeks and aims to up-skill foster carers to prevent placement breakdowns. The course was led by deputy fostering manager, Margaret Gardiner, and fostering and adoption manager Catherine Moore and covered topics such as brain development and the impact of being in care and more.
